Easy Recipes: Rea’s Burgers featuring Sarsaya Oyster sauce

I was not able to attend the recent launch of Ajinomoto’s Sarsaya Oyster sauce a couple of weeks ago, but I was lucky enough to still receive a sample of it, along with a few recipes to try it with such as Ginisang Kangkong (water spinach) with Tofu. One of my childhood favorites is my mom’s Ginisang kangkong in Oyster sauce, but that one doesn’t have Tofu, so I was really curious about this recipe. Anyway, I followed the recipe and came up with this delicious dish. It was Chef Mac who demonstrated how to cook this, as well as the Thai […]

Easy Recipes: Creamy Chicken & Mushroom dish with corn on the side

We call this recipe Chicken a la Chy after my friend, Phoebe a.k.a “Chy” to her childhood friends,  who introduced the dish to us. But in the cook book Cherished Traditions that was published by our South church a couple of years ago, they entitled it “Chicken a la King….and Phoebe.” What it actually is, is a creamy chicken & mushroom dish served with corn (and apparently, chips!) on the side. But you can call it any way you like. I realized that I haven’t shared any recipes lately and since we cooked this tonight, I thought I’d share with you how […]

Easy Recipes: Learning how to cook Tuna Pilaf with Chef DJ Santos

I recently had the privilege to learn to cook from one of today’s top chefs, Chef DJ Santos. And it’s great, too, because the event was hosted by one of my favorite kitchen product brands, Doña Elena. I was back at The Cookery where I also learned to create other great dishes some time ago, but this time, I was introduced to Doña Elena’s newest baby, the Doña Elena 100% Tuna in Sunflower Oil, which comes in two varieties – Chunks and Shredded. Perfect for a healthy holiday! I thought it was perfect timing for Doña Elena to launch their tuna products as the […]

Knorr #LutongNanay: Mom. Homecooked. Home.

It wasn’t the first time I’ve heard it said. I heard it too at the national homeschooling conference four years ago. Many of the things that are supposed to be rooted home have become commercialized, and in effect, has uprooted families from their homes. The point of that conference was actually to stress the importance of family in healing and rebuilding our nation. It was a message that resonated strongly to me so when Knorr’s Brand Manager for Bouillon and Seasonings, Dhiren Karnani, started talking to us mom bloggers about bringing the family home through homecooked meals at the Knorr #LutongNanay […]

Chicken Soup with Kale & Chickpeas

We all woke up sick today. Our 5-year old had it since the other day and our 6-year old started coughing on our way home from the South last night. Our eldest also has the sniffles. My husband and I got it worse though, because we’re the ones who actually caught the bug full force. In fact, it took my husbandy the whole day to get up from the bed to get his ass to his production meeting in the afternoon. Anyway, we just got our orders of organic veggies and meat from The Green Grocer and I was excited to […]
