Christmas Traditions: The Festival of Lights

It’s our fifth year (I think!) to include The Festival of Lights in our Christmas Traditions itinerary. The past two years, we’ve made sure to pass by it after our kids’ annual school musical which they’ve been staging at the RCBC theater in Ayala. Since we’re already in the area, I thought we might as well scoot over and see the beautiful lights dance at Ayala Triangle the same day. Family Christmas Traditions came really late for us this year. Pablo’s show, Matilda, closed on December 10 and Lukas’ and Judah’s school musical, All About that Baby, was staged yesterday, […]

Art and AirBnB: Celebrating Judah’s 6th Birthday

Since we enjoyed our first AirBnB experience, we thought that celebrating our youngest son’s birthday with another AirBnB booking was a great idea. This time, we decided to book a unit owned by our friends, Martel and Alelie, at SM Light Residences. Alelie told us ahead that the unit is so much smaller than the one we previously booked, but we didn’t mind. This is the third and last part of the Marriage Upgrade series based on the Marriage Boosters seminar we attended last year. The first two had been about marital issues and how they’re not what they seem, and crucial conversations husbands and wives need to have. Marriage can be a very challenging journey, but despite the difficulties we have to face along the way, a wonderful future is still possible by the grace of God. It’s been months since Marriage Boosters, I may miss some points that were […]

Christmas Traditions: Thanksgiving and the Christmas Tree

Our Christmas season kicked off 6 days late this year. I honestly do not remember our December being as toxic as this year –We had the kids’ musicale, with rehearsals and photo shoots leading to their show date; Jay had a lot of events at work; our 7-year old Lukas joined this year’s Christmas eve service special number, and us madly scrambling to do as much home school as we could before the Christmas break. But wait, there’s more! I had to set up things for the holidays at work and was working on back logs on my blog. Plus, we decided […]

Marriage Upgrade: Crucial Conversations between husband and wife

The second session of Marriage Boosters, A Marriage Upgrade was all about Crucial Conversations. I blogged about the first session of this marriage seminar last month which was about when the issue at hand is NOT really the issue, and how tensions arise from situations that trigger a spouse to react negatively to something the other did or did not do. (Read: Marriage Upgrade, When the issue is NOT the issue) Crucial Conversations, on the other hand, is about problems and issues that married couples need to discuss and resolve together. Pastor Jojo and Ida Henson began by likening crucial conversations to the metaphorical “elephant in […]
