Restaurant Review: Kuya J Restaurant

I’ve always wanted to try out Kuya J Restaurant since I first saw its Jericho Rosales ads. Not that I’m a fan of Jericho, but I’ve always been a fan of Crispy Pata and I saw that they have it in their menu. I also liked how the food looks in other blogs, so I made a mental note to visit when I finally have the chance. I’m not sure if BGC already has one, if there is, it must not be along the routes we usually take. Otherwise, we would have eaten there a long time ago. The one […]

Vanilla Cafe: My Easter Date and his Cupcake

Our 6-year old Judah was my date on the afternoon of Easter Sunday. The usual Easter attractions at Bonifacio High Street were dampened a bit by the rain showers that day, but we were happy and dry inside Vanilla Cafe as we waited for the staff to call Judah to decorate his cupcake. I’ve always admired Vanilla Cafe from the outside. We would pass it all the time whenever we go to Track 30 to run or whenever we’ll be in the area, but we haven’t really had the chance to try it yet. It’s so pretty even from the outside so […]

No meat meals? Try Slappy Cakes Lenten specials

I got invited to try out Slappy Cakes Lenten Specials at their branch in SM Aura earlier this week. I originally planned to just take Lukas with me, but the rest of the family ended up joining me instead. And it was just as good because there was so much food! Slappy Cakes Lenten Specials are no-meat alternatives that include great, tasty dishes from appetizers to pasta and filling sandwiches and rice meals. That MasterChef moment Jay and I had a “MasterChef” moment when he gently cut through the eggs on Slappy Cakes’ Salmon Benedict and out oozed the yolk, blending dramatically […]

Restaurant Review: Moshi Koshi, Of Ramen and Chopsticks

We took the kids to Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss in Market Market for dinner last night. We were actually on our way to the kids’ favorite fast food when I suddenly remembered that our 9-year old son, Pablo, had been asking to try out Japanese food. Pablo has been thinking a lot about Japan lately. Ever since he came across a video on Robotics in Japan, he’s been talking about going to Japan to see it and possibly, study there. And we want to support him on his dream, even on things as simple as giving him a taste of Japanese […]

Restaurant Review: Good doughnuts or good service? A Krispy Kreme review

I planned to take the kids for a treat at Krispy Kreme since Blogapalooza 2014. One of giveaways I received at the event was a “Create your own doughnut” voucher and I thought it would be a fun thing to do with our two younger kids. But the kids got sick on the weekend the voucher expired, so I thought, well, we can just visit our favorite Krispy Kreme branch in Bonifacio High Street and inquire if my kids can create their own doughnuts. I was willing to pay, of course. No “create-your-own-doughnut”, but… So we took the kids tonight after a short […]
