Opportunities To Teach Through “The Bible”

We’ve been watching the first few episodes of History Channel’s The Bible. One episode showed how Israel had fallen in the hands of Babylon and how they killed the children and captured Daniel and his friends. We all know how brutal some of the scenes were. At one point, Pablo, our 7-year old son started to cry. He got scared at how Nabuchadnezzar had chased Judah’s last king, Zedekiah and how he had the sons’ throats slit. Is that going to happen to us, mom? He asked. I was tempted to just dismiss it as just a story and tell […]

LUNETA PARK, MANILA- MAKING ME EVEN PROUDER TO BE PINOY!

I’ve always wanted to see Luneta park for as long as I can remember. I guess I just never had the chance to go. It was easier for my siblings when they were young because my folks used to rent a house closer to it. I’ve seen the snapshots but what really got me curious was the story in one of my sister’s elementary textbooks. CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP: ENTER THE MAGICAL WORLD OF KIDS

“He was in the bathroom when he saw his shadow; except, it wasn’t his shadow, but Marilyn’s. Marilyn was the family’s trusted nanny when he was a baby. She now works for his grandmother, she remains trusted. There really should be nothing to be afraid of in seeing Marilyn’s shadow, and Pablo knew that, but he also knew that Marilyn was not present and her shadow should not be there. He ran out of the bathroom and into the bedroom but found that it had turned into a giant maze. He didn’t know where to go. He knew that his dad […]

BANNING BEN

We’ve recently decided to ban Pablo from watching his Ben 10 DVDs. We should’ve done it sooner, we are to blame. Here are the reasons why we’re banning Ben10: 1. Ben is disrespectful to his grandfather. He raises his voice and talks back when he’s being corrected. 2. Ben is mean to Gwen, his cousin. He calls her names, picks fights with her all the time, pull cruel pranks on her and embarrasses her in front of other people. 3. Ben is rebellious. He does not take well to corrections. Sometimes, he even runs away. 4. Ben has vile, spiteful, […]

5 BENEFITS OF HOME SCHOOLING

This is our fifth year in homeschooling. We started out a bit too early as I’ve mentioned in a previous blog. There have been no regrets. Home schooling has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. I’m giving you 5 of our reasons why we plan to stick to it for a very long time. WE CAN HOME SCHOOL ANYWHERE At home, we do have a designated home school room where the kids have a desk (a table, actually, that we’re using for a desk) but we don’t always do it there. Sometimes, my kids bring their activities to […]
